Client to supply Load Test Certificate for particular crane.
• Identify the different types of mobile cranes
• Identify and state the function of major components of the crane
• Identify and state the function of controls
• Identify and state the principles of operation of the crane
• Perform all pre operational checks prior to operating the crane
• Perform all control and operational checks prior to operating the crane
• Perform all close down checks when parking the crane
• Know how to park and set up the crane for use with capacity load charts
• Identify the different lifting equipment used with the crane
• Correctly check and use the lifting equipment with the crane
• Correct lifting and manoeuvering of loads
• General safety rules
• Certified copy of the learner’s National Identity Document
• Learners must be a minimum of 18 (eighteen) years of age at the start of the learning program
•
Learners must be physically capable of performing without difficulty
all the tasks associated with and involved in operating the lifting
machine
• A declaration of the employer confirming
that the learner is physically and psychologically fit to undergo the
intended training
• A medical certificate issued by
an Occupational Health Practitioner confirming the physical,
psychological and medical fitness of the learner
•
An optometrist certificate confirming the learner has adequate day and
night vision (eg Purdue University Standard Vision Test No 3) or valid
Professional Driver’s Permit can be accepted in lieu of the optometrist
certificate (refer to Government Gazette No 34876)
•
Possession and wearing of the personal protective equipment as
prescribed by the employer in terms of the General Safety Regulation 2
of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• A
General Education and Training Certificate Grade 10 (Standard 8) or NQF
Level 2 Equivalent or Equivalent with Mathematics and English
• Appropriate driver’s license for the particular vehicle, depending on weight or mass of vehicle – EC or EC1 is a must
• Protective footwear (steel toe-capped)
All
requirements for novice learners excluding the General Education and
Training Certificate Grade 10 (Standard 8) and the following:

valid operator’s certificate about to expire or have not expired more
than 90 (ninety) days prior to the commencement of the refresher
learning program
