So if you posses a tlb certificate, you have to cover safety, maintenance, inspection operation of the backhoe.

The basic components that make up the backhoe during tlb training course include

The last component at the rear is the backhoe, it is used for trenching operation. This consists of the boom stick and bucket. The stick may be extendable depending on the backhoe model.

Another important component is the stabiliser outriggers, these must used at all times when you trenching to stabilise the machine and prevent tipping.

The backhoe is a complex piece of equipment and hand co-ordinates is a must. Be sure to use 3 point of contact when when climbing into the cab when in tlb driving school.

Facing the front of the backhoe while sitting in the operator seat, you will see the center control console, and there are various switches and levers for machine control like the horn.

Always insure the horn is operational before using the machine..

Below the console are the brake and accelerator pedals and to the left differential lock control foot switch and to the right is the transmission speed control. You press the nuetralizer button to select the gear you want to use. Its possible to select 4 forward and 4 rearward gears.

To the right of the speed control is the loader control and parking brake.

Turn to right you will see the side instrument cluster. Here you will find the start key switch, torqometer, fuel level, diagnostic display, and engine core. In addition you will see switches for rear work lights and rear wiper

Below the cluster is the car bare recirculation filter. When the airflow is reduced remove the filter and clean with compressed air of no more than 30 psi. the cab fresh air filter is located outside above the rear wheel and should be inspected and cleaned weekly as well or more often in dusty condition.

The starter switch has 3 positions off, on and start..

It has a rotating seat to access the back hoe and extendable stick controls. To your left is a boom lock lever for the backhoe operator the levers to raise and lower the stabilizers and the throttle control for backhoe backhoe operation.
