Excavator operators are required to:

• - Carry out the correct pre-starting and pre–operating checks.
• - Tell the maintenance supervisor when there is a fault that requires immediate attention.
• - Ensure lights, rotating hazard lights, windows and mirrors are clean.
• - Ensure track tension is correct.
• - Ensure lights, sirens and back-up alarms are working properly.
• - Do not exceed the safe speed for the activity being undertaken.
• - Always mount and dismount the machine using three points of contact on the handrails, grab irons and steps, and always face the machine.
• - Always be aware of the presence of pedestrians. Keep to designated routes.
• - Always observe all site signs and signals.
• - Always operate the excavator with extreme care.
• - Always wear the correct personal protective equipment
