The Semi-skilled Boilermaking course is focused on individuals that would like to start a career as a Boilermaker, and needs skills and experience in the boilermaking field. Boilermakers are highly skilled construction workers who specialize in the making, installation and repair of boilers, high pressure vats, tanks and other large vessels that contain chemicals, gases, water or other fluids, and is required by organizations in the field of engineering fabrication.

This is a practical orientated course and covers the following:

• General Welding Safety

• Read engineering drawings

• Draw up material list

• Use hand tools

• Fabricate a drill gauge

• Operate a pedestrian drilling machine

• Operate a redial drilling machine

• Operate a guillotine

• Operate a punch and sheering machine

• Operate a bending press

• Operate a portable grinder

• Use oxy-acetylene equipment

• Join Plates

• Weld Joints

• Fabricate a Cone

• Make a template

• Marking.

• Mark a channel Iron

• Develop a square pipe elbow

• Develop and fabricate a pipe elbow

• Handle material safely

• Mark off an I beam

• Make a template

• Mark off a channel iron

• Triangulation

• Develop a concentric cone

• Develop an oblique cone

• Develop a cone that is cut horizontally

• Develop and fabricate a cone cut at an angle

• Develop and fabricate a square to round

• Lift and move equipment

• Fabricate and angle iron bracket

• Mark off matching angle iron frame
