Brig Kandiho who arrived at around mid-day was surrounded by youths who asked him to explain why the Police and the army had blocked Mr Kyagulanyi from going abroad for treatment.
“Do you want him dead?
Tell us why you don’t him to be treated. We don’t have any problem with
you but you should tell your man to leave Bobi Wine alone. He has done
nothing wrong,” the youth chanted as Brig Kandiho signaled to them to
keep a safe distance.
Mr Kyagulanyi and MP Francis
Zaake were on blocked on Thursday at Entebbe International Airport as
they flew to US and India respectively for specialized treatment
following the injuries they sustained during the Arua Municipality
by-election fracas.
“Why are these shops closed?” Brig
Kandiho asked soldiers and policemen who had manned entrances of
buildings on Kisekka Market lane. “Those police officers are the ones
disturbing us. They have made our work difficult. They have even closed
our shops. Chase them away because we want to work,” the crowd replied
even before the security officers could answer Brig Kandiho.
The
one star general attempted to get a briefing on the chaos from the
security operatives but the crowd could not let him address the men in
uniform. He was forced to board his land cruiser and move to the extreme
end of the market.
